Quick Easy Crumb Topping
Quick Easy Crumb Topping This is a great recipe for a quickie topping that can be used on lots of different things! If you are making fruit cobblers, pies, muffins, banana bread, zucchini bread, etc., this is a recipe that you will love to have in your recipe box! Add this to the top of any recipe and it will give it that extra special touch that everyone will comment on! Ingredients: 1 cup Golden Graham Cereal, or Graham Crackers (your choice) 1 cup Flour 2 cups Brown Sugar (packed) 1/2 cup softened (not melted) Butter (or margarine) Put all the DRY ingredients into a large zip lock bagggie, and crumble them up together. Use a rolling pin to mash up the graham crackers (or cereal) until it is just crumbs. Keep mixing and tossing it around in the bag and rolling it some more until its all mixed up into crumbs. Next, pour the dry mixture into a medium bowl and add the softened butter. Mix up with a fork until it becomes a crumbly mix. It will still be dry, but should be clumping together. Make the pie, bread, cobbler of your choice, and generously pour this crumb mixture on top before putting into the oven. Cook as your normal recipe calls for. When done, the topping should be a golden brown. Turn a normal, ordinary apple pie into a French Apple Pie to die for! Your Banana bread will be heavenly, and irresistible with this topping! Simmer some fresh fruit in a pot for a few minutes until warm and soft, then put in a pudding cup, add a bit of unsweetened yogurt, cover with this topping and VOILA - quicky easy no-bake Peach, or Apple Cobbler! It doesn't get any easier than this! Leftover crumb topping can be kept in a zip lock baggy, or tuperware in the refrigerator until you make your next special dessert.
