Homemade Waffles
Homemade Waffles This is a great tasting, quick, easy recipe that anyone can make! Kids love it, and love to help cooking! This recipe can be altered, or changed easily by adding your favorite treats, and toppings. Start with the Basic Recipe, then make it your own by getting creative! Ingredients:
2 cups flour (wheat flour can be used if you prefer)
3 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups Milk
5 TBS melted shortening (butter or margarine can be used) Combine dry ingredients in a medium bowl. Add Milk and Beaten Eggs. Mix well until lumps are gone. Add any optional treats. Turn on your waffle iron. When the light indicates its ready, brush the melted shortening on both top and bottom plates. Pour Waffle mixture onto the iron, and close. Serve warm, brush lightly with butter or margarine and finish with the topping of your choice! Ideas for treats you can add to make your Waffles Special:
* Diced strawberries
* Blueberries
* Chocolate Chips (my personal favorite!)
* Diced Apples
* Any combination of the above - get creative!

This is a great family recipe we have used for years! My children always loved Waffle Weekends, and really enjoyed helping Mom cook! Of course, most of the waffles got eaten hot off the grill, so not too many actually made it to the plate! This is something both Mom's and Dad's can do quickly and easily!
